MILITARY SPOTLIGHT
JOHN MIKULIC '64
US NAVY
John Mikulic left us on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the age of 67. He was the youngest of three children born on May 4, 1946 to John Mikulic and Mary Anne (Kovach) Mikulic, who both immigrated from Czechoslovakia. John attended St. Clair Grade School and graduated from Wilson High School in 1964. He was an All-City fullback nominated to play in the state Shriner football game. Prior to the game, he was severely injured in a motorcycle accident which ended his football playing days forever. Following high school, John was employed by several companies and in 1977 he enlisted in the Navy, where he served 10 years and was named the top recruit in his Air Squadron Group. At some point, John had been exposed to asbestos which lead him to contract mesothelioma, cancer of the lung lining. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's name to the Mesothelioma Research Foundation, 1-800-909-6376.
