William Krause (graduating class of 1971)
US Marine Corps
William (Bill) Krause was in the Class of 1971 but joined the military in 1970 when he was a junior, as did several of his classmates at Wilson.
Bill served in the US Marine Corps from 1970 to 1976 in the 3051/Supply Adminstration. His service included one year in Okinawa. (He was a E-4 Corporal).
Bill served in the US Navy from 1976 to 1980, as a Personnelman for Amphibious Construction Battalion One in San Diego, California. He then changed to a machinist after his superiors found out that he was rebuilding motorcycles during his free time. Bill then moved to Vallejo, California and Bremerton, Washington to work on submarines in the Naval Shipyards. (He was a E-4 Petty Officer 3rd Class).
Bill also worked as an explosives operator for the Umatilla Army Depot in Hermiston, Oregon, demilitarizing ammunition coming back from VietNam. (His position was a Wage Grade 8 - Civil Service).
